Hegemons promoting extremism to sow discord among Muslims: Iranian Majlis speaker

TEHRAN,Aug.1(MNA) - Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani said that the hegemonistic powers are making efforts to create discord among Muslims through promoting extremism. “Through strengthening and supporting extremism in Muslim countries, global powers are making efforts to sow discord, which necessitates that Muslim countries exercise vigilant to deal with (such attempts),” Larijani stated during a meeting with Indonesian Ambassador Dian Wirengjurit in Tehran on Tuesday. The Iranian Majlis speaker also commented on relations between Iran and Indonesia, saying, “The Majlis welcomes and supports any measure meant to strengthen and deepen bilateral political, economic, cultural, and particularly parliamentary relations.” He added that there is great untapped potential for the expansion of ties. The Indonesian ambassador said that his country is keen to enhance its cooperation with the Islamic Republic in various spheres and added that an agreement on direct flights between Tehran and Jakarta can help enhance ties.
