Chinese company to invest in noni plantation
(KPL) The Luang Namtha Planning and Investment Service and the Agriculture and Forestry Service of Luang Namtha have signed an agreement allowing Nan Tian Her Lao Agriculture Promotion Company to build a demonstration noni plantation in the province.
The signing took place on Monday. The signatories were Deputy Head of the Luang Namtha Planning and Investment Service Mr. Bounhing Boutsavong, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Forestry Service of Luang Namtha, Mr. Khammouane Rolkamgeua, and Director of Nan Tian Her Lao Agriculture Promotion Company Mr. Sing Yi Huang.
According to the agreement the Chinese investor will invest around 5 billion kip (US$ 600,000) in building the demonstration plantation on five hectares at Nalue village, Luang Namtha district. However It will extend its activities to other villages within the province if the demonstration is successful.
It is expected that every hectare of the plantation will raise around 22-37 million kip a year.
