Iran’s Ehsan Hadadi qualifies for men's discus final

TEHRAN,Aug.7(MNA)--Iranian discus thrower Ehsan Hadadi has booked a berth in the final of the men's Olympic event on Monday. Hadadi will contest for a gold medal after throwing a 65.19m at the first time. Vikas Gowda from India qualified as a first athlete with a throw of 65.20m. Also, Iran’s Sajad Moradi progressed to Tuesday's 800m semifinal, finishing second with a time of 1:48.23 seconds behind Egyptian Hamada Mohamed (1:48.05) on ???day. “I am satisfied with the result, but my tough race will be held on Tuesday. I am 70 percent ready, but I hope that I advance to the final,” Moradi said. In other Olympics news, Iranian woman shot putter Leyla Rajabi, failed to qualify for the final round. She finished in 10th place with a throw of 17.55m in Group A. “My personal best is 17.98m, and I am sad since I could not throw as I expected. The Olympic Stadium was full of spectators and made it difficult for me,” Rajabi said. Nadzeya Ostapchuk from Belarus advanced to final from the group with a throw of 20.76m.
