Mehmanparast: Iran Still Pursuing Case Of Mazar-i Sharif Martyrs

Tehran, Aug 11, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said his ministry is still following up the case of the Iranian diplomats and IRNA correspondent martyred in Mazar-i Sharif, Afghanistan in 1998. He made the remark on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of eight Iranian diplomats and IRNA correspondent, Mahmoud Saremi, who were killed in a terrorist attack at the Iranian embassy in Mazar-i Sharif by the Taliban on August 8, 1998. Mehmanparst paid tribute to the memories of the embassy martyrs and stressed continuous efforts by the Iranian foreign ministry to follow up of the case. He said the attempts of the world hegemony and its allies to destroy Afghanistan, establish insecurity there and bringing the extremist groups to power were foiled by the resistance of the Iranian diplomats and the IRNA correspondent./end
