Ambassador: India To Attend NAM Summit At Highest Level

Tehran, Aug 16, IRNA – Indian Ambassador to Tehran D.P. Srivastava said his country will take part in the 16th summit meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement at the highest level. Talking to IRNA here Wednesday at the sidelines of a ceremony to celebrate India Independence Day, he expressed happiness over Iran’s NAM rotating presidency to be received during the meeting. He said Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Foreign Minister S.M Krishna will take part in the summit. On the significance of the meeting, the ambassador said the NAM summit is held at a time when the world and the region are experiencing various developments and suffering from many problems. The head of the Indian diplomatic mission in Tehran further noted that the summit would undoubtedly provide an appropriate opportunity to work out proper solutions to both regional and international problems. On the role of his country in the NAM, Srivastava said India is one of the founders of the movement and has always been fully committed to its principles./end
