Al-Quds Day Observed Across Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 18, IRNA -- International Day al-Quds was observed across Pakistan on Jumatul Wida (last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadhan) with religious fervor. Rallies across Pakistan were carried out to express solidarity with the Palestinians struggling for the liberation of Beit-ul-Moqaddas. The protestors also condemned massacre of Muslims in Myanmar and killings of Shias in northern part of Pakistan. Hundreds and thousands of Muslims participated in the rallies. Late founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini inaugurated al-Quds day as an integral part of Ramadhan so that Muslims would never forget their responsibility and duty towards Palestine and all oppressed people in the world. Addressing a rally in Islamabad, Allama Asghari Askri, central leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen said that it is the duty of all Muslims to get back the control of al-Quds from Zionists. He said that Muslims should never forget their responsibility and duty towards Palestine and all oppressed people in the world. The MWM leader condemned the killings of Shias in northern Pakistan and asked the government to provide security to Pakistan's Shia community. Speaking on the occasion, Fakhar Abbas Alvi, leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen praised the role of Iran in keeping alive the long-standing of the issue. He urged all Muslim countries to support the Iranian stance on Palestine. He said the Zionist regime should not be allowed to slaughter innocent Palestinians. Talking to IRNA, Abid Hussain Beheshti, secretary of media cell of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen said Muslims of Pakistan have observed al-Quds day to comply with the orders of late Imam Khomeini. He said that a large rally led by Allama Amin Shaheedi Deputy Secretary General Majlis-e Wahdat-e Muslimeen (MWM) was carried out in the city of Karachi. He said that the MWM will observe ten days of mourning on the killing of Shias in northern Pakistan. He said that their protest will continue after Eid-ul-Fitr. Tehreek-e-Nizhat-e-Jafaria Pakistan has also organized a rally in Islamabad. Religious scholars asked the Muslim Ummah to get united and struggle for the eviction of Zionists forces from the first Qibla of Muslims. The rallies were carried in all major cities of Pakistan in which the protesters expressed concern over the silence of the international community over the atrocities by Zionists on Palestinians. At the end of the rallies, resolutions were adopted to condemn the occupation of Palestine by the Zionist regime. The resolutions also condemned massacre of Muslims in Myanmar and killings of Shias in northern Pakistan. American and Israeli flags were set ablaze during the rallies. The participants also carried posters of the Palestinian ‘martyrs’. Participants of the rallies were holding placards and banners inscribed with different slogans like 'Struggle will continue till the liberation of Palestine.' Administration in all cities and towns across the country made special security arrangements to thwart any unexpected incident./end
