Iranian cartoonists win top prizes at Chinese contest

TEHRAN,Aug.23((MNA) -- Two Iranian cartoonists won the top prizes of the Sixth Asian Youth Animation and Comics Contest (AYACC) in China. Cartoonist Mahmud Azadnia won first prize in the Cartoon Section. His work shows a sheep drinking water from a lake, which resembles a wolf. Alireza Pakdel received first prize of the Caricature Section for his work portraying Nelson Mandela. Over 70 percent of the submissions were created by Iranian cartoonists, Iranian jury member Masud Shojaei-Tabatabaei said in a press release on Wednesday. The AYACC 2012 was held on the theme of “Green Cartoon, Creative Future” in Guiyang from August 17 to 19. A large number of works by cartoonists from over 70 countries was submitted to the AYACC this year.
