Regional developments deal a severe blow to hegemons: Supreme Leader

TEHRAN,Aug.25(MNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that regional developments have dealt a severe blow to the regional policies of the hegemonistic powers. “We should take maximum advantage of the incidents in the region to the benefit of the goals of the revolution. These incidents are important events and are a severe blow to the orientation of the (global) arrogance (forces of imperialism) in the region,” the Leader stated during a meeting with Iranian cabinet members on Thursday. “You should be aware that undoubtedly, the United States and Zionism -- not only the Zionist government but also the powerful, active, and influential establishment of Zionism in the world -- will not be able to save themselves from the damage of the great movement which has occurred (in the region) in the near future,” he said. “They have been caught off guard by these incidents in the true sense of the word. But they are trying to come out on top and ride on the waves. They may be able (to do it) in some areas, but, all in all, they will not succeed,” he said, adding that this is a great opportunity that should be seized by the Islamic Republic. Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that a “resistance economy” is the only way to sustain the country’s progress and reduce the vulnerability of the Islamic system. He also said, “Utilizing all the potential of the public and private sectors, making strenuous efforts to resolve the people’s problems in earning their livelihood, combating economic corruption, protecting national production, and mounting a campaign against the waste of resources are the essentials of a resistance economy.” On July 24, the Leader said, “Involving the people in economic activities through the implementation of the general policies of Article 44 (of the Constitution), empowering the private sector, reducing dependence on oil, managing consumption, using time, resources, and facilities as efficiently as possible, acting according to a plan, and refraining from making sudden changes to laws and policies are principles of a resistance economy.”
