Nigeria Voices Readiness To Attend NAM Summit In Tehran

Tehran, Aug 25, IRNA – Vice-President of Nigeria Namadi Sambo, in a statement, voiced Abuja's readiness to take part in the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Tehran from August 26-31, it was reported on Saturday. The statement, appeared in Nigeria's "This Day" newspaper, quoted Sambo as saying that he would attend the event on behalf of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. According to reports, heads of 35 NAM member states will attend the Tehran summit and around 100 countries have so far expressed readiness to participate in the event. UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said Wednesday that the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will also attend the summit. NAM, an international organization with 120 member states, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc./end
