Iran’s Paralympics team arrives in London

TEHRAN,Aug.25(MNA)--Iran delegation arrived in London on Thursday for the 2012 Paralympic Games. A total of 79 Iranian athletes will represent Iran in 13 events. The Iranian delegation will take part in the Games under the name of 'Delvar', after Rais Ali Delvari. Rais Ali Delvari was a national hero of southern Iran, who organized a popular resistance against British troops, which had invaded Iran in 1915. Abdolreza Jokar will carry flag for Iran at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics. The 2012 Summer Paralympic Games will be the fourteenth Paralympics and will take place between August 29 and September 9 2012. Some 4,000 athletes from 150 countries will compete at the London Paralympic Games. At the Beijing Paralympics, Iran ended 22nd on the medals table with five gold, six silver and bronze and 14 medals overall.
