Spokesman: 118 Foreign Delegations To Attend NAM Meet In Tehran

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mihman-parast said 118 foreign delegations would certainly take part in Tehran NAM summit. Mihman-parast, in an interview with Iranian TV, said that 2 kings, 27 presidents, 8 prime ministers, 9 vice-presidents, 6 special envoys, 23 to 25 foreign ministers will certainly attend the meeting. He added that three or five ministers, other than the participating foreign ministers, and 50 delegations in the level of heads of states, 80 delegations in ministerial level and over are among participants in the meeting. The spokesman said that all neighboring countries of Iran are participating actively in the meeting and Saudi Arabia king Abdullah is sending his special evnoy to the summit. He said that draft document of the summit has been prepared with 688 articles and will be discussed in the 2-day meeting of experts. Mihman-parast continued that the articles are in three chapters, including world and international issues in the first chapter, regional crises such as Middle East and Latin America in the second chapter and issues like development, human rights, food and health security and treatment in the third chapter. He added that one statement will be issued on Palestine and a comprehensive plan to solve Syrian crisis will be presented to the meeting. The spokesman said that Iran will assume presidency of the NAM for three years, which can be extended for another 3 years. He added that Iran will try to lobby with participating delegations to change Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) into an organization so its approvals could be binding.
