Egyptian Official Says NAM Summit Will Be Successful

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA - Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations Mootaz Ahmadein Khalili said here Sunday that the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran would be successful. The Egyptian official made the remarks while speaking to IRNA on the sideline of the on-going experts meeting of the 16th summit of NAM member states which started in Tehran Sunday morning. Referring to the participation of 120 countries in the gathering, Khalil described the meeting as a vital event. He said that during the summit, President Mohammad Mosri of Egypt would hand over NAM's presidency to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the next three years. Khalil also voiced Cairo's willingness to share its experiences with Tehran on running the NAM summit. The experts meeting of the 16th NAM summit was officially started here Sunday morning with a speech by Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi. Some 107 delegates are attending the experts meeting. The two-day meeting will be followed by the meeting of NAM foreign ministers on August 28-29 and the summit is to be held on August 30-31./end
