Russia Keen To Expand Ties With Iran

Tehran, Aug 27, IRNA -- Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said on Sunday that Russain political and parliamentary officials are willing to further expand Tehran-Moscow relations. Dzhagaryan told member of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy, Mehdi Sanaie, that Iran-Russia relations are longstanding and strategic. “Regarding strategic role of Russia and Iran in guaranteeing regional security, especially security in the Caspian Sea, the two countries senior officials need to have constant and regular consultations,” he added. He lauded the grave role of Iranian and Russian parliaments to facilitate bilateral relations. Sanaie said for his part that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes growing economic and political ties, particularly parliamentary relations with Russia. He said as two important regional states, Iran and Russia should expand strategic cooperation on mutual interests. He urged expansion of scientific and academic relations between Iranian and Russian research centers and universities./end
