Dubai institution to hang Persian calligraphy works by Esrafil Shirchi

TEHRAN,Aug.27(MNA) – Persian calligraphy works by Iranian artist Esrafil Shirchi will be put on display during an exhibition in Dubai. The Dubai Cultural and Scientific Association has organized the weeklong exhibition, which will open on October 13, Shirchi told on Sunday. Works by José Miguel Puerta Vilchez from Spain, France-based Iranian artist Hassan Masudi and several other prominent calligraphers will be showcased at the exhibit. Shirchi plans to prepare 25 works featuring poems by Hafez, Khayyam and Rumi, and some verses from the Holy Quran. He said that the organizer of the exhibit takes a modernistic approach to calligraphy. Some workshops have been arranged on the sideline of the event. Participating in such exhibitions help Iranian calligraphers introduce this genre of Persian art at international events, he stated. Shirchi, 50, is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran. His artworks have been shown in over 30 solo and 60 joint exhibits in Iran, Germany, India, China, the United States, Ukraine and many other countries.
