NAM foreign ministerial meetings open in Tehran

TEHRAN,Aug.28(MNA) – The foreign ministerial meetings of the XVI Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) opened at Tehran’s IRIB International Conference Center today morning and close tomorrow.
The expert meetings were held on Sunday and Monday, and the meetings of heads of state and government will convene on Thursday and Friday, during which delegates from the 120-member organization will exchange views on the latest developments in the world, issues related to NAM, and various other issues.
Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh, the secretary general of the expert meetings, held a press conference on Monday, in which he briefed reporters on the decisions made at the meetings and the content of the document drafted by the participants.
According to him, the continuation of the occupation of the Palestinian territories, terrorism, particularly state terrorism, disrespect of religions, and unilateral economic sanctions have been condemned in the draft document.
And non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, opposition to unilateralism, and the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy are among the issues that have been emphasized in the draft document.
