Finding solution to Syrian crisis at NAM summit would be a positive step: Russian envoy

TEHRAN,Aug.28(MNA) – The Russian president’s representative to the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran has said that it will be a positive step if a political solution is worked out for the Syrian crisis during the conference.
“If an initiative for resolving the Syrian crisis is developed at the Tehran summit, it will be a positive step by the Non-Aligned Movement countries toward the resolution of the Syrian problems and crisis,” Konstantin Shuvalov told reporters upon his arrival at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport in the early hours of Monday morning.
The XVI Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement opened in Tehran on Sunday and closes on Friday.
And Shuvalov is scheduled to deliver the message of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the meeting of the heads of state and government of the Non-Alighted Movement, which opens on Thursday.
“It is hoped that the decisions that will be made by foreign ministers and leaders of the Non-Aligned Movement will lead to the development of a political solution to the Syrian crisis,” Shuvalov stated.
The Russian official also commented on Putin’s message and said, “The message is about important global issues because the Non-Aligned Movement has a significant role in resolving global issues.”
“The Non-Aligned countries should play a role in resolving the current crises in the world based on their own ideology and should be good partners for each other,” he stated.
