Iran FM Stresses Peaceful Settlement Of Syrian Crisis

Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Monday evening that the Syrian crisis should be settled peacefully without any foreign intervention.
In a meeting with his visiting Indian counterpart Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, Salehi said Tehran attaches importance to ties with New Delhi, hoping the two would grow bilateral relations.
He then elaborated on holding Iran-India upcoming joint economic commission session in near future, calling it as a good opportunity for fostering bilateral cooperation.
The Indian foreign minister, too, hoped Syrian people would witness normal situation back to their country, stressing that the nation should make decisions for the country.
He then appreciated Iran's role in successfully holding the ongoing 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit meeting.
He hoped the Tehran NAM meeting would open new chapter in the member states' activities.
The two ministers also held talks on the important international and regional questions./end
