Iranian band and foreign musicians teaming up for fusion concert in London

TEHRAN,Sept.1(MNA) -- The Iranian band Zar led by neyanban (Iranian bagpipe) player Saeid Shanbehzadeh and French saxophonist Matthieu Donarier and American guitarist John Konesky plan to perform a fusion concert in London in September. A fusion of folk music from the southern Iranian city of Bushehr on the Persian Gulf and Western jazz will be performed during a concert at the Camden Center on September 29. Shanbehzadeh’s son Naqib and Habib Meftah Bushehri are his band’s members. Shanbehzadeh was born in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr. He studied under the prominent masters of Bushehr from childhood and acquired proficiency on several instruments. He has conducted ethno-musicological research throughout Bushehr Province and has become a living encyclopedia of its vast musical repertoire. Shanbehzadeh lives in Paris and is the leader the Bushehri traditional ensemble Zar. Donarier and Konesky have previously accompanied Zar in several performances in various countries.
