Collection of short docs on Tehran statues produced
TEHRAN,Sept.8(MNA) -- A series of short documentaries on the statues and busts situated across the capital Tehran has recently been completed.
Documentary filmmaker Meysam Shah-Babaii has taken the helm of the project, which was commissioned by Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization.
“A total of 231 statues have been installed across the metropolis, out of which 177 have so far been documented in this project,” Shah-Babaii told .
Each statue has been filmed in one short doc covering its location, texture, form and its sculptor, he added.
The 200-minute project took about four months to accomplish and the rest of the statues might be covered in the second phase of the project, Shah-Babaii said.
“Tehran Municipality is determined to present copies of the collection to other mayors worldwide as a gift. The municipality also wants to keep an archive of the works for itself,” he said.
Tehran experienced the grief of having several of its bronze statues stolen one after another within several months in 2010. Most of them were busts of Iranian luminaries situated in local neighborhoods and parks in Tehran.
However, Shah-Babaii said that he hopes to get a chance to work on the stolen statues in a new project in the future.
