Thai exporters urged to focus on Eastern Europe

BANGKOK, September 10 (TNA) - Thai exporters have been urged to explore more trade opportunities in Eastern Europe, emphasizing on value-added and innovative products. Nanthawan Sakuntanaga, Director-General of the Thai Ministry of Commerce's Department of Export Promotion, has made the recommendation, as her department is leading Thai business operators to participate in the ‘Thailand Trade Show’, held in Warsaw, Poland's capital, and to visit the ‘Maison & Objet 2012’ event in France. A total of 48 Thai business operators of food and beverage, gifts and household products are taking part in the ‘Thailand Trade Show’ fair, where they have received purchase orders amounting 30 million baht so far. It is expected that their total purchase orders this year should not be less than 100 million baht they received last year, as Thai seasoning powder, spa products and gift sets have been gaining more popularity in Poland. During the ongoing visit to France, the Thai business operators also have an opportunity to exchange views on organising goods exhibitions in Thailand, starting from the Bangkok International Gift Fair and the Bangkok International Houseware Fair (BIG+BIH), set to be held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in the capital's Bangna (บางนา) area from October 18–23, 2012.
