People in all Thai regions warned of widespread downpours
BANGKOK, September 13 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Interior's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issued a statement on Thursday, warning people in all regions to brace for widespread scattered downpours from September 13-17, with heavy rainfalls in some areas and possible flash floods and landsldes in low-lying zones and hillsides.
The statement said that people can follow the updated situation at an official website, [www.waterforthai.com], or ask for assistance or report flood-related incidents at the depatment's hotline, 1784, 24-hours.
On Wednesday, Thailand's National Disaster Warning Centre cautioned people in the country's lower northeastern, central and southern regions, to be on high alert for possible floods and flash floods from September 12-15, due to impacts from a monsoon trough couple with the influence of the southwestern monsoon wind, particularly those in seven provinces including Amnatcharoen, Yasothon, Ubon Ratchatani, Si Sa Ket, Phang-nga, Krabi and Trang.
Meanwhile, heavy floods in the heart of Sukhothai Province in the Lower Thai North since early this week caused by a break-up of a levee along the Yom River, have eased, with the situation returning to normal, as a repair of the floodwall has been almost complete. (TNA)
