Thai farm sector needs changes, says CP
BANGKOK, September 14 (TNA) - An executive of the Charoen Pokphand (CP), Thailand's largest agro-industrial conglomerate, has suggested changes in the production of Thai agricultural goods to be in line with the global trend.
CP Executive Vice President Sarasin Viraphol pointed out that the global agricultural sector has been changing, especially for food security.
Sarasin assessed that the world population should surge by 47 per cent to 9 billion over the next 38 years; so, world food production should be raised by 60 per cent then.
The CP executive vice president urged the Thai farm sector to boost productivity in environmentally friendly ways and to plan the production of agricultural goods to feed both human and energy consumption in order to maintain the status of Thailand as a global major source of food. (TNA)
