Oscar-nominated Majid Majidi slams anti-Islam film

TEHRAN,Sept.15(MNA) -- Oscar-nominated Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi issued a statement of condemnation on an anti-Islam film posted on the Internet last week.
The amateurish movie, entitled the “Innocence of Muslims” and originating in the United States, insults the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S).
“Now, everybody knows that you fear that the kind message of the religious school of the Messenger of kindness has begun capturing the East and the West. Thus, at times and in a Taliban-ish manner, you want to show a violent and savage image of the religion to the people of the world and, sometimes, by means of art, you want to replace the truth with lies and deception,” Majidi told the producers of the film in the statement entitled “A message to the lords of the rings”.
“Wait, after spreading these prattles, his glittering pretty face will appear and you, the evils, will remain disgraceful,” he added.
Majidi is currently directing “Muhammad (S)”, a big-budget film, which will depict the life of the prophet of Islam from the age of 12 until his appointment to prophethood.
He has hired a number of the world’s heavyweights in the film industry for the movie.
Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor and filmmaker Scott E. Anderson, three-time Academy Award winning Italian director of photography Vittorio Storaro, world-renowned Croat production designer Miljen Kreka Kljakovic and several other world celebrated cineastes are collaborating on this project.
Majidi’s “Children of Heaven” earned Iran’s first Oscar nomination in 1999.
