Thai troops recommended to take over southern solutions
BANGKOK, September 15 (TNA) - Thavorn Senniam, deputy leader of the main opposition Democrat Party tasked with southern areas, proposed on Saturday that the government use soldiers of the 4th Army Area Command and local forces to handle violent unrest in the Thai far South.
Thavorn responded positively to the surrender of 93 insurgents with the 4th army area commander earlier this week, saying that he supports negotiations to solve insurgency in the Thai deep South, and that the Thai government should, however, seriously implement solutions.
Regarding the possibility of any achievement after a discussion on southern solutions between the government and the opposition camp in Bangkok on September 18, Thavorn suggested that southern solutions require united actions and decisiveness. (TNA)
