KBank: No closures of banks in flood hit areas
BANGKOK, September 17 (TNA) - Thailand's Kasikorn Bank (KBank) says it will not close their branches in flood stricken areas.
Deputy Managing Director of KBank Chartchai Payunawichai told reporters Monday that he has been ordered to visit branches of the bank that were hit by the recent flood or at risk of being flooded to prepare an emergency plan to cope with the situation.
Chartchai said the bank has planned to provide services to customers for as long as possible in all branches affected by the inundations, like that of Sukothai province, which remain to be opened for the time being.
The bank also believes that this year's flooding would not be as acute as last year's, where over 110,000 people were affected, he added.
Meanwhile, Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited (Bangchak) says it has not underestimated the situation and has prepared alternative plans for oil deliveries in case of severe flood.
Managing Director of Bangchak ordered all officials to be ready for the floods and stressed that if oil deliveries could not be made from the oil cargo in Bang Pa-in district of Ayutthaya province, then oil deliveries would be made from oil cargoes in Samutsakorn and Surat Thani provinces instead, assuring there would be sufficient amount oil through the period of flood.
