Bangkokians urged to keep canals clean for drainage efficiency
BANGKOK, September 17 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has urged Bangkok residents to keep all canals clean for efficient flood drainage.
Yingluck made the call during a ceremony held to present award to participants of the government’s canal dredging project, which is designed to help prevent flooding this year.
A total of 307 canals in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces have been dredged and cleaned under the project, which was joined by officials from private and government sectors as well as residents living along the canals.
Premier Yingluck said the project has yielded a success and thanks the participants for their cooperation with the government in implementing the project.
She also pledged that the government will speed up the implementation of the project in other areas nationwide. (TNA)
