Police tighten security outside US embassy in Bangkok

BANGKOK, September 18 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung said Tuesday that he has ordered Police to tighten security at the United States embassy in Bangkok amid reports of planned demonstrations against an anti-Islam film. Demonstrators are expected to assemble at Lumpini Park after midday before marching in front the embassy on Wireless Road. They plan to burn American flags in their protest against the film "Innocence of Muslims". However, Chalerm said he believes the demonstration would not turn violent, adding that police units would also be deployed to secure U.S. companies in the capital. The US embassy, meanwhile, will close to public at noon today due to the planned demonstration. (TNA)
