US Ambassador: US does not support insulting of other religions
CHIANG MAI, September 19 (TNA) - In the wake of movements taken by Thai-Muslims living in Chiang Mai against the movie, “Innocence of Islam”, which insulted Prophet Mohammad, US Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenny says she is not worried about any violence, stressing Thailand and the US have had long sound relations and that her country respected expressions of every group.
Ambassador Kenny told reporters in Chiang Mai Wednesday that the United States does not support any movements that insult other religions, which she believes would help to prevent the conflict between Muslims and the US from escalating further.
Ambassador Kenny said she trusts the situation should improve soon.
The ambassador further noted that a warning against traveling to Thailand for US citizens would not be needed because Thailand is peaceful and that she is sure of the security provided by the Thai government for Americans and other foreign tourists. (TNA)
