3,000 Female Basijis Condemn US Anti-Islam Film

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA – Some 3,000 female Basijis (Volunteer forces) gathered in an a stadium downtown Tehran Sunday condemning the US anti-Islam film which provoked Muslims anger worldwide. Various battalions of Basiji women gathered in Shiroudi Stadium protesting the defamatory film which sparked outrage of Muslims all over the globe. The Supreme Leader's advisor for military affairs Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi is to address the gathering later today. Basij is a paramilitary volunteer militia established in 1979 by order of the Founder of the Islamic Republic the late Imam Khomeini. Basij serves as an auxiliary force engaged in activities such as internal security as well as law enforcement auxiliary, providing social services and organizing public religious ceremonies./end
