Iran beats Laos in AFC U-16 Championship

TEHRAN,Sept.23(MNA)--Iran defeated Laos in the opening match of the AFC U-16 Championship on Saturday. The Iranian team came from one goal behind to beat Loss 3-1 in the Group A of the competition. After just two minutes, Anousay Noyvong found back of the net for the visitors in Tehran’s Pas Stadium. Amir-Mohammad Mazloum equalized the match in the 17th minute. Seyed-Majid Hosseini put the Iranian team into the lead two minutes later. After two minutes into the second half, Mazloum scored once again and made it 3-1. In another match of the group, Kuwait and Yemen finished in a 1-1 draw. After the group stage on September 22-27, the top two teams from each group (eight teams in total) will qualify for the quarterfinals (September 30) and the four winners of the quarterfinals will play in the semifinals (October 3) and the winners advance to the final (October 6).
