Heavy flooding remains in Thai East, North
BANGKOK, September 25 (TNA) - The flooding situation in the Thai East and North has not yet eased after more heavy downpours overnight, with some areas being critically flooded and considerably damaged.
In the eastern Prachinburi province, several hours of heavy rainfalls last night had caused the Ta Prachum Market in Srimahapote district to be submerged by as high as one-metre floodwater until Tuesday morning, when several local roads were also heavily inundated, forcing a number of households to evacuate to roadside shelters provided by local authorities and motorists to use other routes.
In Pitsanulok province in the Lower Thai North, Meuang, Prompiram and Bang Rakam have remained under a deep floodwater; while areas along the old Yom River and the main Yom River, as well as other low-lying zones, including Baan Mae Ra Han in the Ta Chang locality, have also heavily flooded from a water mass from the upstream Sukhothai province, prompting local people in the affected areas to have commuted by boats temporarily.
Military officers have, meanwhile, handed out relief packages and drinking water to people in the flood-stricken areas, where more than 10,000 households have been damaged. (TNA)
