Thailand hosts ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment

BANGKOK, September 26 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment and related forums in Bangkok from September 24-28, as part of preparations for the ASEAN Community (AC) over the next three years by all relevant countries and parties in an integral manner covering the environment and all over issues. During the five-day regional gathering, organized by the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, delegates from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as those from China, Japan, the United States and Russia, discuss solutions to environmental issues which have been deteriorating due to impacts from the global warming problem or climate change. This week's regional discussions were set to focus on the problem of cross-border smog, which has apparently become an annual issue and required regional actions for its prevention and solution on the sustainable basis and on regional cooperation on the conservation of forest-related resources.
