“Days of Life” wins best film award at Resistance filmfest
TEHRAN,Sept.30(MNA) – “Days of Life”, a drama on the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, which is known as the Sacred Defense in Iran, has won the best film award at 12th edition of the Resistance, Revolution and Sacred Defense International Film Festival.
Directed by Parviz Sheikhtadi, the film is about a physician couple working on the war front at a field hospital that is surrounded by the Iraqis. The film was honored in several categories at the 30th Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran last year.
“Days of Life” also won the jury special award of the international section of the festival.
The 12th edition of the Resistance film festival was held in Kerman from September 24 to 28.
Family drama “Kissing the Moon-Like Face” brought the best director award for Homayun As’adian at the Iranian competition section of the festival. The film also received the Audience Favorite Film award.
“Kissing the Moon-Like Face” is about Ehteramossadat and Forugh, two women who live in a neighborhood. They have been waiting for their children to return for 20 years.
“As’adian was not able to attend the award-giving ceremony, however, he asked to give the award to all the mothers of the martyrs of Kerman,” producer Manuchehr Mohammadi said on stage while receiving the award.
The ceremony continued handing the best awards at the international section of the festival.
Iranian war drama “The Queen” by director Mohammadreza Basheh-Ahangar won the best film award in the international section.
The story of the film is set in the southwestern Iranian city of Abadan during the Iran-Iraq war. An Iranian soldier hides inside the Abadan Oil Refinery to reconnoiter the Iraqi forces.
“Rebellion” by Mathieu Kassovitz from France got the best director award.
The best documentary film award of this section went to the war drama “Tears of Gaza” by Vibeke Lokkeberg, a coproduction of Norway and Palestine.
