Japanese artist Hiroyuki Asakawa making sculpture for Iran

TEHRAN,Sept.30(MNA) -- The Japanese sculptor Hiroyuki Asakawa, who is attending the ongoing Tehran Sculpture Symposium, is making his sculpture to be left in Iran. Asakawa, who is highly interested in the combination of mathematics and art in sculpture, is making a design with the central theme of gravity. The Japanese sculptor is one of the eight sculptors attending the 4th Tehran Sculpture Symposium, which opened at the Qasr Museum Garden on September 17. He said that he likes the atmosphere dominating the symposium and that he is not thinking of rivalry or gaining a special place at the symposium since he does not believe it is competitive. He believes sculpture is not just for beauty, “I think one can place sculpture and entertainment beside one another.” Asakawa, whose works are mostly made with stone, has been working for over 20 years and has so far attended different symposiums in Japan, Turkey, France and Taiwan. The symposium will be running until October 7.
