Thai opposition leader urges new police chief to solve conflict in society

BANGKOK, October 1 (TNA) - Ex-Premier and opposition Democrat Party Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva urges the new Police Chief Police General Adul Sangsingkaew to show strength and justice in carrying out the laws. Speaking to reporters Monday, Abhisit stressed the justice system is the heart of any society and the police is the centre of that justice system. Abhisit said he wants to see the new police cheif gives more importance to the said aspect, as well as to increase the suppression of narcotics and crimes. The Democrat Party leader also said that he has seen Police General Adul carried out his responsibilities well, while the duties that are coming afterwards are going to become a vital test for him. Police General Adul Sangsingkaew, former secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, succeeds Police General Prewpan Dhamapong, who retired on September 30, as the police chief.
