Directed by Majid Barzegar, the movie was competing in the New Directors section, one of the strongest sidelines of the festival, which ran from September 21 to 29.
The movie is about Parviz, a man in his fifties who has lived his entire life in his father’s home and has never held a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out.
Born in Hamedan in 1973, Barzegar holds a BA in Film and an MA in Dramatic Literature. His shorts include “The Alleys of the Wind” (1998), “The Old and Doleful Ballad of Asmar’s Rainy Afternoon” (2000) and “Walking in the Fog” (2002).
His first feature “Rainy Seasons” (2010) competed at the Rotterdam and Montreal festivals. “Parviz” is his second feature.
The New Directors Award went to Fernando Guzzoni’s “Carne de Perro”, a co-production of Chile, France and Germany.
