Iranian director to make film on Italian painter
TEHRAN,Oct.3(MNA) -- The Iranian director Esmaeil Monsef will make a short film on the contemporary Italian painter Alberto di Fabio at the Asiatica Film Festival in Rome.
This film is part of the Crossing Cultures project arranged by organizers of the festival, which will be held from October 5 to 13.
Directors Raymond Red from the Philippines, Zhanabek Zhetiruov from Kazakhstan and Mamta Murthy from India have also been invited to make films on other Italian painters for the project.
The project begins with e-mail correspondence between the filmmaker and the artist. Both sides are selected by the festival’s officials. Afterwards, they meet in Rome and start working together.
The final stage of the project focuses on the technical and logistic support up to the final cutting so that (the short films are shot, produced and edited during the days of Asiatica. In this way, they are ready to be screened on the last days of the event.
Alberto Di Fabio was born in Avezzano in 1966, and studied at the Academia delle Belle Arti, Rome. Di Fabio’s paintings and works on paper merge the worlds of art and science, depicting natural forms and biological structures in vivid color and imaginative detail.
Monsef’s short film “Under the Colors” will also be screened at the festival.
