Bangkok to have mild precipitation, influenced by Gaemi
BANGKOK, October 8 (TNA) - All 50 districts in Bangkok have been influenced by "Gaemi", which is now a low pressure trough, with scattered but light rain, while the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) ensures that the situation is under control.
BMA's Drainage and Sewerage Department Director Sanya Cheenimitr told reporters that, given the weakening Gaemi, there had been no heavy, but mild precipitation in all areas in the capital overnight, assessing that the light rainfalls should continue in the city for the rest of the day.
Sanya said that the average amount of rainfalls in every district in Bangkok was about 30 millimetres and the rainwater could be drained out normally, as water in the canals and rivers in the capital had been earlier released to the sea in in preparation for the Gaemi.
Sanya said, however, that BMA officials will be stationed at areas at risk of flooding in the city to closely monitor updates until the situation returns to normal.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecast that there should be continual rainfalls in Bangkok over the next couple of days. (TNA)
