Majlis supports expansion of Iran-Japan ties: Iranian speaker

TEHRAN,Oct.10(MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the parliament supports every effort to expand friendly relations between Tehran and Tokyo.
Larijani made the remarks on Monday during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Tehran, Kinichi Komano, at the end of his mission in Iran.
He also expressed hope that the two countries would use opportunities to increase bilateral cooperation.
He added that good relations between Iran and Japan should not be affected by certain countries’ measures meant to undermine bilateral ties.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani highlighted Japan’s constructive role in establishing lasting peace in Asia and said that the expansion of ties between the two countries will help promote peace in the region.
The Japanese ambassador also highlighted the importance of Iranian culture and civilization in Asia and said that increasing cooperation with Iran has always been a foreign policy priority for the Japanese government.
In a separate farewell meeting with the outgoing Japanese ambassador to Iran on Monday, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that Iran and Japan are old civilizations and have rich culture and history.
He also said that the Islamic Republic has always welcomed the enhancement of relations between the two countries.
Komano also thanked Iran for making efforts on the world stage to promote peace and stability.
