PM orders agencies concerned to work in coordinated manner
BANGKOK, October 11 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has ordered provincial governors and agencies concerned nationwide to coordinate all their work, covering disaster prevention and mitigation, drug prevention and suppression, as well as actions against gambling, smuggling of goods and all other crime.
At a teleconference with provincial governors nationwide to introduce her policies for the 2013 fiscal year, Yingluck insisted that all agencies concerned should work proactively to serve people’s needs in their respective areas.
For the promotion of local products under the government’s one-tambon-one-product (OTOP) scheme, Yingluck told the provincial governors to survey their local producers; while her government will help market the community-based products, noting that several department stores have agreed to display quality products.
The prime minister also instructed the provincial governors to develop agricultural databases in their provinces so that her administration can work out agricultural plans to serve both local and overseas demand.
To prevent and crackdown, probably, corruption in the government's rice-pledging scheme, the prime minister told the provincial governors and police to check its implementation in their jurisdiction at random and take disciplinary actions swiftly against officials found corrupt. (TNA)
