Thai Chefs bring home gold medals

BANGKOK, October 12 (TNA) - Thai professional and youth chefs have brought fame back home, by winning gold and silver medals from the IKA Culinary Olympic 2012, in Germany. The coach for the Thai Chefs team, Chef Willment Leong, told journalists on Friday that the Thai team had competed in the IKA Culinary Olympic 2012 from October 5-10 in Germany and had grabbed four golds and one silver for the nation. Chef coach Leong, therefore, called on more support for culinary competitions for Thailand's teams from the government, similar to other Thai sports. Three gold medals, won by the Thai professional chefs, were in the categories of Professional Sugar Creations with a full 100-point score outstandingly, as well as Wedding Cakes and European Desserts, while the youth chefs won one gold medal from Thai Papaya Salad and Snow Fish with Spicy Soup Sauce. It was the second time in 30 years that Thai chefs won prestige medals from the world-class culinary competition, participated by over 1,500 chefs from 60 countries globally this year. (TNA)
