German Envoy: Germany Keen On Parliamentary Ties With Iran

Tehran, October 22, IRNA -- German Ambassador to Tehran Bernd Erbel said on Sunday that German parliamentarians are keen on political, economic and cultural relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. He made the remarks in a meeting with the head of Iran-German Parliamentary Friendship Group Javad Heravi. Germany attaches importance to broadening ties and relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Middle East region, he said. In the meeting, the German ambassador hailed Iran's deeply rooted culture and civilization and welcomed formation of Iran-Germany parliamentary friendship group proposed in the ninth Iranian parliament. He expressed the hope that Iran-Germany parliamentary friendship groups would play their significant role in broadening relations between the two countries. Heravi, for his part welcomed expansion of parliamentary cooperation with Germany. The two parliaments have always played leading role in broadening ties and relations between the two countries, he said. He expressed the hope that through collective contribution of the two parliaments the two nations would witness removal of obstacles in the way of cooperation. Heravi said that parliamentary relations are useful to bolster economic cooperation away from political considerations./end
