Domestic Power Plants To Generate Beyond 70,000mw Electricity By Year End

Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA – Energy Minister Majid Namjoo said on Sunday that power generation capacity of Iranian power plants will exceed 70,000 megawatts by March 20, marking end of the current Iranian year of 1391. Namjoo told the closing ceremony of the 12th International Electricity Exhibition of Iran (25-28 October 2012) that with Siahbisheh and Getvand Power Plants coming on the cycle this year, the power generation capacity of Iranian power plants will go beyond 70,000 megawatts. Namjoo added that Iran has been facing sanctions for 30 years, having learned how to address the matter. Commenting on western sanctions, he said, "Today, the sanctions can be transformed to opportunity through sound management." The 12th international Electricity Exhibition of Iran focused exclusively on the electric industry, providing in-depth information for prospective businessmen and customers about the industry and the latest trends influencing its progress. Being attended by prominent electrical companies, equipment manufacturers and vendors, the expo offered participants the opportunity to network, learn about new technologies and techniques, exchange ideas and discuss about industry trends.
