24 countries meet on ICT in Vientiane

(KPL) Representatives of 24 countries from three continents have gathered here in an International Symposium on Communication and Information Technology (ICT).
Running from 21 to 23 October, the event was organised by the National University of Laos (NUOL) and the Tokai University of Japan under the co-chairmanship of Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Somkoth Mangnormek, the Rector of the National University of Laos, Prof. Dr Soukkongseng Sayaleuth, and Rector of the Tokai University of Japan, Prof. Dr Chiro Takano.
Mr. Somkoth said that the seminar aimed to provide the platform for scientists, engineers, practitioners, managers, business operators and government leaders from countries around the world to exchange up-to-date knowledge and experience and to discuss opportunities, challenges, solutions, and practices in the ICT field. The participants of the meeting presented articles on the ICT development in their own countries, ICT researches and the ICT-related challenges they are facing in recent years and the near future.
The meeting also constitutes to the development in ICT area of the Lao PDR, especially its largest education institute - the National University of Laos.
The participants are from the ASEAN countries, Japan, China, USA and Australia, and universities from three continents of the world.
