Iranian Majlis speaker meets with ECOSAI officials

TEHRAN,Nov.11(MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday met with the officials who participated in the 17th meeting of the governing board of the ECO’s Supreme Audit Institutions, also known as ECOSAI, which was held in Tehran on Thursday. During the meeting, Larijani stated that the political situation in the region is changing rapidly and close cooperation between regional countries will help serve their interests. The ECOSAI is a regional forum of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the South and Central Asian regions. Founded in 1994, the ECOSAI aims at promoting the state auditing profession in member countries through exchange of ideas, experiences, and by holding seminars, conferences, workshops, and training courses. At present, following SAIs are members of ECOSAI Governing Board: Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. The ECOSAI Governing Board has the responsibility to oversee the fulfillment of the Charter of ECOSAI, adopt decisions necessary for the functioning of ECOSAI, adopt the draft budget and to submit it to the assembly, submit the accounts together with the report of the Audit committee and its own comments to the assembly for approval, submit a report on ECOSAI activities to each ordinary session of the assembly, and fulfill any other duties entrusted to it by the assembly.
