Iran to host Syrian ‘national dialogue’ meeting next week

TEHRAN,Nov.14(MNA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced on Tuesday that Tehran will host a Syrian “national dialogue” meeting next week. Speaking to reporters, Amir-Abdollahian, who is the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, said, “In addition to representatives of political groups, minorities, and the opposition, representatives of the Syrian government will participate in the meeting.” He also stated that the motto of the meeting is “No to Violence and Yes to Democracy”. Tehran hosted a consultative meeting on Syria on August 9. Delegates from Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Benin, China, Cuba, Ecuador, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Maldives, Nicaragua, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, and the United Nations attended the Tehran meeting, which was chaired by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi. In the meeting next week dignitaries from other countries are also expected to attend the meeting.
