Seven suspects in Iranian blogger’s death arrested
TEHRAN,Nov.15(MNA)– Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of Sattar Beheshti, an Iranian blogger who recently died in custody, Iranian MP Mohammad Hassan Asafari announced in Tehran on Wednesday.
Asafari, who is a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, also announced that so far no evidence has been found showing that Beheshti had been beaten in prison.
A special committee was established by the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on Sunday to investigate the case.
‘Crimes committed in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons have slipped into oblivion’
Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said on Wednesday that the Sattar Beheshti case is not directly related to the Judiciary or Evin Prison, but the Judiciary has issued all necessary instructions and possible culprits will definitely be dealt with.
He also criticized Western media outlets for using the case as a pretext to create a commotion about Iran, saying that it seems the crimes committed in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons have slipped into oblivion.
