One killed, some 20 others wounded in latest bomb blast in Thai deep South

BANGKOK, November 17 (TNA) - A woman was killed and some other 20 victims, including five troops, were wounded in a latest bomb attack taking place in the violence-plagued Thai far South Saturday morning. The latest motorcycle bomb attack was reported in front of a local store on Siroros Road in Mueang district of Yala province, triggering a heavy fire at the store and nearby buildings and taking fire fighters more than an hour to bring the blaze under control. The body of the female victim was found lying on top of a motorcycle at the hood of a smashed military pickup truck, located some 20 metres away from the damaged buildings. Police investigators initially said that the bomb appeared to be detonated by a radio, as its circuit components were recovered at the scene, and that the bomb went off when a military pickup truck was passing by on a patrol, causing five soldiers in the pickup truck were also injured, two of them were in critical condition. According to the police, about 15 other civilians were wounded and 5-6 commercial buildings and a number of cars were damaged. (TNA)
