Iranian, Pakistani presidents discuss ties

TEHRAN,Nov.20(MNA) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari discussed bilateral ties during a telephone conversation on Sunday.
Ahmadinejad and Zardari explored ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries. Ahmadinejad called for an acceleration of efforts to implement bilateral agreements and emphasized the importance of strengthening ties.
The Iranian president also commented on the summit of the D-8 group of developing countries, which is scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Thursday and said, “I am confident that the summit, chaired by you, will be a successful summit and experience in regard to the expansion and strengthening of ties between the member states.”
The D-8 group consists of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
During the telephone conversation, Zardari said that Pakistan is seeking to cement ties with Iran in various areas.
