“CTE 2012” International exhibition kicks off in Baku

Baku, November 21 (AzerTAc). “Caspian: Technologies for Environment CTE 2012”, the 3rd International Environmental Exhibition, has opened its doors to participants and visitors at the Baku Expo Centre. Speaking to the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov highlighted the country`s projects to strengthen the protection of environment. He praised Azerbajan`s economy saying it had withstood the global economic crisis which seriously affected many countries worldwide. The minister stressed the significance of the exhibition, noting it would contribute to developing and expanding the cooperation among local and foreign companies. Organized by British “ITE Group Plc”, “Iteca Caspian” and the Azerbaijan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the exhibition aims to assist the promotion and use in Azerbaijan of innovative environmental equipment and technology that can protect natural resources and improve quality of life. CTE 2012 will demonstrate environmental protection achievements and promote expanded international cooperation on environmental issues with regional and international public and government organizations, as well as encouraging an exchange of experience in energy-saving and introducing alternative sources of energy. Some 60 companies take part in CTE 2012, from countries including Azerbaijan, Belgium, Germany, France, Israel and Turkey. CTE is attracting a great deal of attention from government bodies using the event as a platform to announce their projects and results - these active participants include the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Tamiz Shahar JSC, Azersu JSC, the Company for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources and the Agency for Land Reclamation and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan State Shipping Company, and the State Committee for City Building and Architecture of Azerbaijan. Exhibitors also include leading companies from the oil and gas sector - SOCAR, BP and Saipem will all present their proposals and projects for effective natural resource use, alternative and renewable energy, and water treatment to reverse the effects of long-term oil and gas field development in Azerbaijan. 30% of this year`s exhibitors are debutants, including Gorex Analyt GMBH, Nord Engineering (Turkey), Belgium, and Deniz Mühendislik (Turkey). These and other debutants will showcase equipment for environmental impact assessments, systems for collecting and treating solid waste, water treatment facilities, and deep-sea treatment facilities. The exhibition as a whole features the latest developments in effective natural resource use, renewable resources, waste processing plants, and the newest alternative energy equipment - focusing the attention of millions of people on environmental protection issues and how to solve them. Particular emphasis will be placed on water treatment and its subsequent use for drinking, and special technologies for repairing damaged marine ecosystems will be presented for the first time.
